Connolly Creations was an established specialised consultancy service based in Los Angeles, USA, which provided business development, operations management and strategic planning assistance to small and medium sized businesses.
All Stars was a junior soccer team based in Los Angeles, California, coached by Chris Connolly of Connolly Creations.
The initial brief to Zetagram* by the client was to cost-effectively design a logotype and motif for a youth soccer team, in a similar style to the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team logo.
Zetagram sourced a basic donor font for the basis of the logo and added serifs to mimic the custom drawn style of the All Blacks logo, while retaining the stark black and white impact.
For the motif, to distance the new design from the influence of the All Blacks logo, the fern was replaced with a stylised star shape, drawn in such a way to incorporate the capital letter A.
The final design was supplied to the client in Los Angeles, which in turn was applied to soccer strip and clothing by local suppliers.
